Introducing Kaila Timmons, one of my favorite community people who doesn’t stop pushing to ensure all voices are heard. It’s been fun watching her grow as a community professional, making me a proud community auntie. Today, Kaila shares advice that keeps you on track.

Kaila is the Principal Consultant and Founder of kth Community Consulting.

Kaila’s advice:

“I know that this sounds cliché, but have a plan and stick to it. Yes, it’s important to be agile, but prioritizing is key. Don't be afraid to say ‘no’ to something that is not mission critical. A million "little things" that are supposed to just take a few moments can end up eating away at your day and your deadlines.”

Yes! Two things can be true at once - community requires flexibility but it also requires consistency, especially for community builders. Scattered and doing many things isn’t going to create the best experience for your members or YOU. Learn to prioritize and use your voice to say ‘no.’ Your future self will thank you.
